As games move into the next generation, there is potential for game audio like never before. Gamers are more sophisticated, and no longer accept generic products. Sound designers can't rely only on stock in-the-can sound effects libraries. Its time to take a cue from the film world, and record as many custom sounds as possible for each project.
This presentation explains the basics of field recording. Topics include: what equipment is needed; how to find unique sources to record; how to set up and manage a complex recording session; and how to execute a successful field recording session. Attendees hear stories and audio examples from past field recording experiences.
