Overview: Military-themed shooters are a large part of todays games market, as more tactical realistic titles crowd the marketplace. With a setting based in a world of jargon and details, there are many pitfalls and challenges to designing in the realm of military shooters. In addition, with the oncoming of the next generation of consoles, the push is often for more: bigger battlefields, more action, and more players. But can the essence of your game get lost in what makes it next gen? This session will present techniques available to Designers to make sure that their game stands out from the crowd by presenting a unified game world, with a correct level of detail in the military genre. Focus is on the design, research and resources needed for a designer to overcome the production, communication, and design challenges faced when working on next gen consoles.
