Overview: Questions of diversity in the game development workforce have never been more prominent than now, but what's the actual makeup of people working in games? This talk will present results from the 2019 and 2021 UK Games Industry Censuses, a collaboration between Ukie and the University of Sheffield. It'll demonstrate that games is more diverse in some ways than people give it credit for, but that in other ways - particularly people's socioeconomic origins - games isn't as diverse as we might hope. This talk will also summarise new work on how UK games workers feel about the sector that they work in.
