Overview: Recently, it seems impossible to read about our industry without seeing another horrifying tale of sex/gender-related harassment or discrimination. Unfortunately, these are not isolated incidents as many industry veterans have their own horror stories - often more than one. For those who actively want to improve the situation, it can be hard to know how to begin. Even those with the best of intentions can speak or act in a way that actually makes things worse. Few issues stir as much heated debate as these do and the controversies surrounding them can escalate quickly. So what CAN we do? Before we can fix these problems, we need to truly understand them. This session will discuss common forms of harassment and discrimination faced by women in our industry. We will also delve into the psychological, physiological and social impact these issues can have on individuals. TRIGGER WARNING: Explicit discussions of violent sexual assault.
