Overview: What happens when students become the protagonists in a game development group? What can an educator expect from this process? This talk is about the lessons learned when establishing an academic group solely ran by students in a university that currently does not have any specific major for game development. This includes difficulties faced trying to create a network of students, to motivate and define a healthy production pipeline, to be recognized as a formal group in the university and most importantly to define what was wanted for each person to take from the group.
