Overview: While planning video game production is hard enough because of uncontrollable variables (iterative process, market conditions etc.) did you know that cognitive biases (systemic pattern of deviation from rationality in judgment) influence our decisions every day? Are our planning decisions always rational or are they influenced by biases all humans have? How can we recognize them and can we mitigate their influence?Cognitive biases that arise in the context of planning such as anchoring, confirmation bias, illusion of validity and more are very well known, observable and predictable. In this talk, Alexandre Moufarek presents a review on the scientific literature on cognitive biases in the context of planning with teams, concrete real-world examples of how they occur and techniques to mitigate their effects.
