Your Steam Page Needs a Soul: How to Get Your Game's Magic Across on Steam

Overview:

A great Steam page can change an indie game's fate, turning obscurity into long-term sales, yet most still look like lifeless feature lists. For indie developers, Steam pages are the single most important and direct way to reach players. Still, many copy bland and boring AAA layouts, formats that only work thanks to brand power and marketing spend, and describe their game like they're selling accounting software. This session explores how to build pages that connect emotionally, convert quickly, and most improtantly set the right expectations for the almighty Steam algorithm. Drawing on backend insights and data from supporting over 30 game launches a year, and dissecting hands-on insights from standout examples like CloverPit, Summerhouse, Peak, Necesse, and Vampire Survivors. This talk shows why tone, honesty, and personality matter more than polish or safe feature lists. The talk also includes hard data from the backend, page-by-page breakdowns, and practical tips and tricks to optimize for visibility and conversion.
