Session Name:

The Dream Machine Postmortem: How To Make A Hard Thing Even Harder

Overview:

In early 2009 Anders Gustafsson and Erik Zaring resigned from their cushy jobs and set out to make a hand-crafted game using materials such as clay and cardboard. They wanted to combine their backgrounds in stop-motion animation with the medium of games. They had no idea if it would work or not, but more than three years later their efforts has garnered several industry awards and parts of the production has been displayed on art exhibits around the world. The lecture chronicles how they went about making the game and why we made some of the decisions that they did.
