Overview: This session attempts to identify the reasons for why estimating and subsequently planning is usually inaccurate. Once it has done so, it will discuss potential solutions for increasing accuracy based on initial experiments undertaken at two separate studios. Rather than trying to solve the problem of everything related to planning (release planning, milestone planning, portfolio planning) this session will dig down to the very smallest common denominator of planning; one week. The goal is to understand how to improve a teams abilities to estimate and plan during the shortest time frame.
