Overview: Many people in the game development and academic worlds are unaware of the fact that the National Science Foundation is interested in funding game development. The SBIR/STTR (Small Business Innovation Research/ Small Business Technology Transfer) program exists to help entrepreneurs launch high-risk, high-reward innovations in many fields. Collaboration between academics and the business community is encouraged and supported. This program now has funds set aside specifically for games that are educational or encourage the development of high-tech and STEM initiatives in the U.S. This session will explain how the program works and walk attendees through the steps to prepare a competitive proposal.
