Fall Foliage in 'Redfall': Creating the Essence of Northeast America

Overview:

This talk is about how Arkane Austin created their vegetation for Redfall, one of Arkane's most ambitious games to date. The game's events take place in Fall of 2023 in Redfall, Massachusetts. Ehsan Ebrahimzadeh, Senior Environment Artist at Arkane Austin Studio, talks about how they managed to utilize Arkane's unique art style by combining hand-crafted art with procedural and nondestructive methods. They explain their steps creating a thorough workflow helping them create their big foliage library in a way that they could iterate and improve assets very quickly based on design and art directors' feedbacks. Lastly, this lecture will expand on what could be done for better results and their future moving forward.
