Overview: Sports games are powerful narrative generators that create some of the most engaging stories, so how can this be applied to traditional story-driven games? This session examines the structures and techniques used in modern sports games, and how these can be applied to narrative games. We will look at how to reimagine a story as a simulation space, rather than a discrete set of events, in order to build procedural stories. We will also look at how to generate more dynamic, real-time dialog using the techniques of play-by-play commentary.
