Overview: The games for health sector has been enjoying impressive growth recently, yet still is flying below the radar of many GDC attendees. This session will provide a taxonomy of the field, defining the various purposes of apps and devices involved, explaining the difference between Digital Health, Digital Medicine, and Digital Therapeutics, and describing how and to what extent games and game technology are involved, using real companies and products as examples. XR, mobile, and multiplatform approaches will be included. Notable developments of the previous year will also be surveyed and used to illustrate important archetypes of emerging games for health applications.
